About Allyson Castelli
Allyson Castelli is the Owner and Managing Director of Yellow Bird Community Center, LLC. She also serves as a Consultant, Lead Teacher, and Community Coach for clients enrolled at Yellow Bird. Allyson earned her Bachelor's Degree in Special Education at Felician University in New Jersey. She worked as a Special Education Teacher for 6 years in urban school districts across the country including New Jersey, New York City, and Denver, Colorado. Allyson served 4 of these years as a Transition Teacher, supporting high school students and young adults with developmental disabilities in accessing community-based services and work-readiness skills. Allyson also served as the Transition Coordinator during her time in New Jersey, making arrangements with various businesses and non-profit organizations to provide the students at her school with various work-based opportunities. Today, Allyson is using her experiences and knowledge in the field of Special Education Transition to provide services and supports to adults with developmental disabilities. It is truly her passion to provide authentic and meaningful experiences to individuals with special needs in order to help develop a drive in them.
About Kodi Huntsman
Kodi Huntsman serves as the Community Advisor for Yellow Bird Community Center. She joined the program in May of 2017 after relocating from San Diego, California to Denver, Colorado. Kodi is originally from Bozeman, Montana but has lived in various areas including Arizona and Southern California before moving to Denver to be closer to family and the mountains. She is currently completing her degree in psychology through Arizona State University and plans to further complete a graduate degree. Kodi has worked and volunteered with multiple demographics, including children, the elderly, and coaching those with developmental disabilities. She has a passion for mental health and has obtained certifications to further her education and increase awareness and advocacy within communities. It is Kodi’s desire to help her clients discover their drive and passion for the goals in their life and she believes that engaging in a "program without walls” is the best way to achieve that. During her free time, she enjoys exploring museums, craft breweries, and coffee shops within Denver and cheering on the Rockies!
about Abby grant
Abby Grant is the Substitute Community Advisor at Yellow Bird Community Center! She will be supporting participants when the agency has increased numbers or in the absence of other employees. Abby is from Holland, Michigan and moved to Colorado to be closer to family and farther away from Michigan winters. Abby has a Bachelor's Degree in general psychology and is planning on going back for her Master's Degree. During school, she worked at a day program for adults with developmental disabilities and also did CLS with kids and adults with developmental disabilities. Abby became a registered Behavior Technician after this and did ABA therapy with kids with autism. Currently, Abby works in an acute psychiatric unit in a hospital. Her past experience has made working with adults with developmental disabilities feel very natural to her. She loves helping others, laughing together, and being able to see lasting progress. Abby also enjoys the relationships she has built with her consumers and their families. Yellow Bird is so happy and excited to have Abby on board!
A very very special THANK YOU to Ashley Crossland and Jo French! These awesome individuals served with Yellow Bird over the summer as we transitioned into a growing and burgeoning agency! Ashley will be moving on to pursue her training and internship in School Counseling. Jo will be taking up the Pacific Crest Trail for the remainder of the summer and attending school in the Fall. You will both greatly be missed by our agency and participants! Thank you for the loving heart and goodness you poured forth!
